Scott W. Buker, 74, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a period of declining health. Scott was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother who would do anything for his family and friends

Born in Nashua, NH on May 21st, 1950, Scott was the eldest of four children to the late Harold Jr. and Barbara (McLetchie) Buker. He was raised in Merrimack NH until moving with his family to Grey Summit, MO in 1964. Scott graduated from Pacific High School in 1968 where he played football, baseball and ran track.

Upon graduation, he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged he met his wife of 49 years, and they were married in 1975. They enjoyed an extended honeymoon driving across the country to Oregon, where Scott attended farrier school at Oregon State University. After returning east, they settled in Merrimack where they built their home and a barn for all the livestock Scott enjoyed raising and caring for.

Over the years the Scott was employed in many trades including: farming, horseshoeing, roofing, welding, and working on & operating heavy machinery. He retired from the Carpenters Union (Local 327 formally Local 33) after many years of working on Boston’s “Big Dig”.

When he wasn’t on the clock, he enjoyed spending time with his family and never missed any of his sons’ sporting events. He also enjoyed working on cars, racing at Hudson Speedway, watching sports, hunting, fishing and he always had a good story to tell.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 49 years, Margaret (Bakas) Buker; two sons who affectionately called him “Duke”, Garrett and his wife Jillian and Cameron and his wife Sarah; one grandchild; three siblings, Kim Buker and his wife Rita, Wendy Rogers and Holly Buker, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

Calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 from 3 – 6 PM. Burial will be held privately for the family at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen.

Scott’s family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at both the Elliot Hospital and the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, for all the love and care they provided Scott during his stay.
