Herbert Sayers

With great sadness, Herbert Sayers, 82, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Merrimac, MA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on Tuesday, September 24.

Born in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Doris J.(Noyes) Sayers, and had attended Haverhill Public Schools and Haverhill High School.

Throughout his career Herb worked for the Amesbury School System, and after retirement, the Merrimac Senior Center.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Herb enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his camp in Tamworth NH and recalling the summers he spent with his siblings growing up at the Dolly Copp Campground. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.

He is survived by his son Mark E. Sayers and his wife Michele of Nashua, NH; grandchildren Layla Sayers, Jason Duval, Ryan Duval and Rendall Sayers; great-grandchildren, Madisin, Aedin, Emma, Alexis, and Brooklynn; his brother, Thomas Sayers and wife Barbara of Nottingham,N.H, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois (Rosie) Sayers; son, Eric Sayers; sisters, Peggy Richardson and Janet Fortin; and brothers, Edward (Robbie) Sayers Jr., John Sayers, and Charles D. Sayers. He will continue to warm the hearts of those who loved him dearly.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10 A.M. at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, MA, where he will be laid to eternal rest. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
