Kathleen Rose (Amelio) Whall
Kathleen Rose (Amelio) Whall died on September 1 at The Fairview Inn in Hudson, NH after living many years with Alzheimer’s. Kathy grew up in Nashua, graduated from Mount Saint Mary Seminary and received her nursing degree from the Moore General Hospital School of Nursing in Goffstown, NH. Kathy truly loved being a nurse and practiced in Miami, Providence, Buffalo, Lebanon, NH, and at her beloved St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua where she worked for over 40 years, retiring in 2013.
Kathy loved to travel, enjoyed attending musicals and concerts (especially Barry Manilow!), and being with her dearest friends Pat Allen and Jan Lapine. She also enjoyed attending sports events (all the Boston teams!), the NH semi-professional teams and watching sports on TV. Most of all she enjoyed being with her children and their families: Timothy and Kecia Whall, and their children Tyler and Abby, of Gilbert, AZ; Maureen and Scot Austin of Nashua, NH , and their children Jessica, Hannah, and Nathan Austin, and Sean and Mary Kate Whall of Vallejo, CA. All three of her children followed her in working at some point at St. Joe’s. Kathy is also survived by her brother, Robert Amelio and his husband Timothy Williamson, of Jamaica Plain, MA, her nephew William Merchant, Jr., his wife Melissa, and daughter Amelia, of Tampa, FL, and her brother-in-law William Merchant, Sr., and his wife, Darlene, of Florida. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Mary (Hansberry) and Carl Amelio, and her sister Mary Elizabeth (“Betsy”) Amelio Merchant. She is also survived by many cousins and her beloved aunt Eleanor Wilson of Cranston, Ri, and uncle Eugene Amelio, of Florida.
Kathy’s family deeply appreciates the love, dedication, and care shown to Kathy by the Fairview Inn staff in the last 18 months of her life, and to the Home Health and Hospice Care staff in the final months of her life.
