Bertrand L. “Bert” Dumais
Bertrand L. “Bert” Dumais, 88, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Lafleur) Dumais with whom he shared 36 years of marriage prior to her passing in October of 2017.
Bert was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on October 1, 1935 and was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Levesque) Dumais. In his earlier years, he attended St. Francis Xavier Church and School.
For many years, he was employed in various positions with Nashua Corporation until his retirement in 2001.
Bert was a former member of National Club of Nashua as well as a former member of the Lone Pine Hunter’s Club of Hollis, New Hampshire. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and just being outdoors. He could always be found puttering around his backyard. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family.
Bert is survived by his daughter, Tracey (Hallett) Hanlon and her husband Edward of Amherst; four grandsons, Thomas Hanlon, Nicholas Hanlon, Adam Hanlon, and Jake Hanlon. He is also survived by Doris’ stepchildren, Cheri Walton and Laurel Cavanaugh; his grandchildren, Vanessa Gregoire and her husband Austin, Victor Soucy and his wife Sarah, Myles Jadis and his fiancé Hannah, Seth Hallett, and Taylor Hallett; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Doris and his parents, Bert was predeceased by his brother Gilbert who was the first Nashua soldier to be killed in action in Korea, August 19, 1950; as well as his brother Charles Roger Dumais, and his sisters, Yolande Drouin, Annette Desjardins, and Jeannine Dogopoulos, and his step son Steven Hallett.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bert’s visitation on TUESDAY, September 10th from 8:45 AM until 9:30 AM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street, Nashua. His interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
