Richard L. Obin

Richard L. Obin, 85, died peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice (Chartier) Obin with whom he shared 42 years of marriage prior to her passing in January of 2007.

Richard was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on July 6, 1939 and was the son of the late Arthur and Olive (Renaud) Obin. He graduated from Oblate Seminary in Maine with the class of 1957. He then went on to serve his country in the Army from 1961 to 1964, and the National Guard from 1964-1965.

For many years, he was employed as an MIS Operations Manager for Kollsman until his retirement.

In his free time, Richard was an avid Red Sox fan and loved attending and watching their games. In his younger years, Richard could be found painting, reading, tending to his floral gardens, and traveling with Janice to visit family. More than anything, Richard loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Pepere will be missed by all.  

Richard is survived by his five children, Richard D. Obin and his wife Tammy of Nashua, David Obin and his wife Shannon of Williamsburg, VA, Lisa Gonzales and her husband Manuel of Nashua, Matthew Obin and his wife April of Parkton, NC and Jennifer Bonura and her husband Tommy of East Lyme, CT; his fourteen grandchildren, Joseph Paradise, Joshua Paradise, Kyle Obin, Samantha Obin, Paige Doda, Brandon Obin, Andy Obin, Dalton Obin, Devany Obin, Spencer Obin, Eva Gonzales, Peyton Obin, Noah Bonura and Charlotte Bonura. He is also survived by his four great-grandchildren, Lexi, Liam, Jonathon and Maya; his two siblings, Muriel Gelinas of Merrimack and Lionel Obin and his wife Yvette of Toulouse, France; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Rev. Arthur Obin, brother-in-law, Jean Gelinas and his granddaughter, Elise Obin.

Relatives and friends are invited to Richard’s visitation on SUNDAY, September 8th from 1 until 3 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Mass will be held on MONDAY, September 9th at 10 AM in Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad Street, Nashua. Kindly meet at church.
