Aug 17, 2024

One year ago today, our Dad Raymond Anthony “Skip” Lindsay, aged 92, passed away on August 31, 2023, in San Francisco, CA after battling ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) for 18 years. Born in Canonsburg PA, on January 11, 1931, Dad was known for his funny, loving, athletic, and proud demeanor, which endeared him to all who knew him.

Raised in Punxsutawney PA. where he played basketball, baseball and football. Graduating Punxi High School class of 1948, Dad proudly went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1956, where he completed his submarine training and worked as a fire technician on the subs Trigger and Sennet during the Korean War. His time in the Navy was marked by a deep commitment to his country and fellow servicemen.

Following his military service, Dad embarked on a successful career with Digital Equipment Corporation, Pittsburgh PA. where he served as Global Sales Manager from 1960 until his retirement in 1992, Hollis NH. His leadership was instrumental in the success and expansion of the company during his career.

In retirement at the age of 72 Dad ran and won a four year seat (2003-06), as selectman for his beloved town of Hollis NH.

Outside of his professional life, Dad was an avid sports fan, holding a lifelong passion for the Boston Red Soxs and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His hobbies also included fishing and cooking, activities that he cherished with his family and friends. Additionally, Dad was a dedicated jogger often accompanied by his beloved dogs Ranger, and Sean finding peace in the activity well into his later years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dad’s, (Skip’s) memory to ALS research, a cause he deeply cared about. Dad leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and dedication to his children Jacquie and Michael Lindsay, daughter in law Angela Lindsay, and grandsons Raymond and Parker Lindsay.

He will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We miss you Dad!
