Elda (Thibodeau) Cormier

Elda (Thibodeau) Cormier, 80, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was the wife of the late Omer J. Cormier who passed away on March 5, 2023.
Elda was born in Haute-Aboujagane, New Brunswick, Canada on June 14, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie (Roy) Thibodeau.
Throughout her life, Elda remained true to her Canadian roots. She was a farm girl from a small village in Canada and lived her whole life demonstrating the simple but remarkable virtues shared by most Canadians. She was always nice, polite, and focused on supporting her family and community. Her reflexive kindness led her to always find ways to prioritize helping others and creating a welcoming environment. Even in retirement, she tirelessly and unselfishly took care of her neighbors.
Elda’s life allowed her to spread her kindness. Along with her late husband, Omer, she took a leap and moved to the US after they were married. For almost 3 decades they travelled and worked wherever the military sent them. The US Army life was trying at times, constantly going to new places and meeting new faces, but Elda ensured that the family with 3 boys thrived. Elda was the foundation who always provided her full love and support. She turned each journey into an opportunity to enrich the lives of her family members and lives of the friends they met along the way. Elda readily shared her love and laughter with everyone. Her simple beginnings and grounding ensured that her life was a beautiful tapestry of love and friendships.
For many years, she was employed as the manager at Green Meadow Golf Course Snack Bar until her retirement.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, crochet, and helping other people. She also loved spending time with and talking to her friends and family.
Elda is survived by her two children, Richard Cormier and Daniel Cormier and his wife Christine; her two grandchildren, Nickolas Cormier and his wife Alexa and Madison Cormier. She is also survived by her siblings, Hubert Thibodeau and his wife Dora, Emma Thibodeau, Claude Thibodeau and his wife Carol LeBlanc, Hector Thibodeau, Almeda Thibodeau, Angele Cormier and her husband Norbert and Michel Thibodeau, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Lomer Cormier; her brothers Valmon Thibodeau and Edgar Thibodeau and his wife Gelina.
Relatives and friends are invited to Elda’s graveside service on FRIDAY, August 23rd at 3 PM at New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH. Interment to follow.
