Dexter M. Cox

Dexter M. Cox, 86, passed away peacefully at Hillsborough County Nursing Home on April 27, 2024.

He was born April 12, 1938, in Baileyville, Maine, to the late Milton and Bertha Cox.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Shallow) Cox, sister Diane (Cox) Clapp, and stepfather Joseph Finerty.

Dexter is survived by his son Brian Cox; daughter Karen (Cox) Hurley and her husband Scott; granddaughter Julia (Hurley) Baker and her husband Joshua along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Dexter graduated from Woodland High School and continued his education at the University of Maine, New Hampshire, and California. He was a contracted engineer working on the East and West Coasts and owned an organ tuning company.

Dexter’s life was guided by his strong faith and love for family. He found joy in singing for the church choir and the Barnstormers group. He loved spending time sailing and enjoying the outdoors.

A memorial will be held at St James Methodist Church, 646 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on May 23 at 10 a.m. A Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Goffstown, NH.
