Russell P. LaPorte, 72, a longtime resident of Biddeford, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Stark) LaPorte with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on November 4, 1951, and was the son of the late Robert P. and Arlene M. (Russell) LaPorte.

In addition to his loving wife, Russell leaves his brother Robert P. LaPorte, Jr. and his wife Linda of Chelmsford; his stepchildren, Marc Montminy of Standish, Maine, Christian Montminy, and his wife, Nicole of Litchfield New Hampshire, and Stephen Georges of Des Moines, Iowa; his nephews, Joseph Russell LaPorte of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Thomas E.R. LaPorte and his wife Ashley of Johnson, Vermont; his grandchildren Honorae and Addalyn Montminy of Falmouth, Maine and Owen and Charlie Montminy of Litchfield, New Hampshire; and his great niece and nephew Ariah CynthiaRae LaPorte and Lucas Russell Thomas LaPorte of Johnson, Vermont. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law CynthiaRae LaPorte.

Russell’s passions centered around his family, friends, work, skiing, travel, and life in his forever home at Hoyt Neck in Maine.

Russell was a licensed building construction supervisor which spanned his entire work life to his last day. Throughout his career he constructed many homes in Chelmsford, Pepperell, Westford, Lowell, and Southern New Hampshire and supervised the construction of many apartments, condominium projects and office buildings. He knew everything there was to know about construction, home building, and zoning especially when it came to minimizing the impact on the environment.

Forever conscious of the environment, he and his family donated conservation land in Westford (The Fred Russell Bird Sanctuary); and to the Chelmsford Land Trust and Chelmsford Conservation Commission of Littleton Road.
