Joanne Cudhea Westburg

Joanne Cudhea Westburg died peacefully at home on April 14, 2024. Joanne was born in Missouri in 1946 to Ralph Cudhea and Margaret Sheehan. She grew up in New Hampshire and graduated from Nashua High School in 1964 before attending Becker College. Joanne embarked on an epic westward adventure to Oregon with her best friend Bonnie in 1969. While living in downtown Boston with her girlfriends in the early 70’s Joanne became part of the original female fleet of delivery drivers for L’eggs and went on to work at The Colonnade and The Copley Plaza Hotel as manager and concierge to many notable guests. Joanne met Richard Sward Westburg, a jazz drummer, at The Plaza and they married in 1980. Joanne and Richard raised their children in Salem, Massachusetts where she nurtured her love of maritime and architectural history. Joanne moved to Falmouth in 2002 accepting a position in the Marine Biological Laboratory Digital Processing Center where she made many friends and enjoyed welcoming summer scientists. Joanne loved traveling internationally and locally, often taking spontaneous trips with her friends and family. Her favorite places in the world were Switzerland, Guatemala and New Mexico. Joanne is survived by her sister Karen Kelley, her children Evan and Amy Westburg, and Richard’s children Christen John Peck and Claudia Peck-Kiousis. “Nana Jo” adored her grandchildren Veda, Vanna and Sage.An intimate celebration of life will be held at Nobska Beach later this spring.
