Virginia Velma (LaFontaine) Olena

Virginia Velma (LaFontaine) Olena, age 102, passed into heaven with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2024 at Presidential Oaks in Concord, NH. She was born on November 8, 1921 in Nashua, NH, the daughter of Edgar LaFontaine and Velma Rood. She was the wife of Raymond A. Olena and married for 61 years and lived in Holderness for the past 25 years. She grew up on a farm in Merrimack and attended Nashua schools. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved her family immensely. She read the Bible every day and prayed for everyone. Virginia had a compassionate heart and always gave a hand up to those in need. She was an excellent cook and everyone especially relished her homemade pies, eclairs, and donuts as well as her holiday dinners. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting, making many afghans as gifts.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Olena, five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her brother Richard LaFontaine and his wife Fran of Nashua, her children, Raymond Olena and his wife Margaret of Holderness, Cynthia Jean and her husband Donald of Nashua, Donna Beloin and her husband Donald of Keene, Kevin Olena of Milford, 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to greatly thank the staff and nurses at Presidential Oaks for their wonderful care and loving kindness as well as the staff of Amedisys Hospice.

No formal services will be held at the time. In honor of Virginia, those who wish may do acts of kindness for family, friends and strangers.
