Michael W. Wilson

Apr 2, 2024

Michael W. Wilson, 73, passed suddenly at his home in Clinton, MA, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Leslie (Perrin) Wilson; two daughters, Anni Wilson, and Lillian Wilson & wife Dale Lovage; two grandchildren, Pat Kelly and Dakota Kelly; and son-in-law Timothy Kelly. He leaves his siblings, David Wilson & wife Judith, and Thomas Wilson; a large extended family; and some long-time friends who meant a great deal to him. He is pre-deceased by his daughter Monica Kelly and sister Margaret Wilson.

Son of the late Willis & Mary (Neilon) Wilson, Michael was born and raised in Nashua. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1968 and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1972 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he made lasting friendships as a brother of the Theta Xi fraternity. One of his first jobs–and his life-long favorite–was in a research lab at the Massachusetts General Hospital. For more than thirty years he pursued a career in software engineering, working for a series of companies on the cutting edge of information technology until his retirement.

An avid hiker, Michael spent his leisure time in younger years scaling the summits of all of the 4000 footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He found joy in music. He played the accordion as a boy, learned to love classical music in college, and delighted in the development of his three daughters into accomplished musicians. He was an enthusiastic traveler and a wide-ranging reader. Committed to the importance of spirituality and ethical behavior, Michael was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where he sang in the choir and served on the vestry and as church treasurer. Above all he will be remembered as a steadfast husband, father, and grandfather.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 209 Union St., Clinton, MA, with burial to follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster, MA. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Michael W. Wilson to: OXFAM, 77 North Washington St., Suite 500, Boston, MA 02114; or to WHEAT Community Connections, 272 High Street, Clinton, MA 01510.
