Douglas Harold James

Douglas Harold James, 74, a lifelong Nashua resident, passed away at his home, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 after a period of declining health.

Born in Nashua on May 17, 1949, he was a son of the late Harold F. and Stella T. (Fagnant) James. Educated in local schools, Doug attended Sacred Heart School of St. Patrick Church and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1968.

Doug had been employed as manager of the former Merrimack Wayside Furniture Store on the Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua for over twenty years and later worked at Walmart in Amherst for twenty years.

He was life-time member of Nashua Lodge #720, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, where he enjoyed playing pool. Doug enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to joke and tease his co-workers at Walmart. Doug also loved his Chevrolet Corvettes and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Doug was a devoted and loving care-giver to his mother for many years.

Members of his family include his three siblings, the late Robert Gary James, Sylvia J. Holt and Shirley Mae Dussault; his sister-in-law, Jeannette James; nieces and nephews, the late Brenda P. James, Timothy Holt, Tracy Holt Lavoie, Michael Dussault, Patricia James Hooper and Nichole Towne; grandnieces, Samantha Richards, Veda Towne and Audrey Holt; grandnephews, Patrick Holt, James Lavoie, Brian Lavoie, Jacob Lavoie and Asher Towne.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday evening, March 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. A Graveside service will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson, Thursday, March 21st at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to attend.
