John Brayne Arthur Hostage

John Brayne Arthur Hostage, 96, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2024 at the Hunt Community.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Cyril J. and Florence (Roberts) Hostage. A graduate of Port Washington High School Class of 1945, John furthered his education at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1949.

A resident of Nashua since 1959, John and his family resided on Lee Street for more than thirty years. He had been employed as a sales representative with Curtis 1000, Inc. for many years until his retirement in 1992.

John was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish and a former communicant of St. Christopher Church, where he served as a lecturer and on the new school building committee.

Members of his family include his wife of 72 years, Anne (Leonard) Hostage, whom he married on September 8, 1951; his four children, John B. Hostage, Jr., Mary Kretzmann and her husband, Kent White, Peter G. Hostage and his wife Maria, and the late Thomas R. Hostage, who passed away June 18, 2023 and his wife, Rebecca T. Clarke; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Roberta Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, Friday morning, March 8th at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
