Joyce Noreen (Smith) Hoenig

Joyce Noreen (Smith) Hoenig, 81, of Nashua, NH, passed away as a result of Ovarian Cancer on March 2, 2024. She was surrounded by her son, daughter, and daughter-in-law.

Joyce was born on September 11, 1942 in Lakewood, OH. She was a graduate of Magnificat High School in Rocky River, OH and the Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Cincinnati, OH. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. After a career as a nurse and home health aid, she dedicated her time to the Adult Day Care program at Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH. Following her retirement, Joyce continued to serve her community by volunteering at her church’s nursery, local soup kitchens, and food pantry. Her compassionate heart and sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Michael Hoenig, daughter Christina Burke, daughter-in-law Brenda Hoenig, son-in-law James Burke, grandchildren Donovan Burke, Olivia Burke, Andrew Hoenig, Joseph Hoenig, Stephanie Hoenig, step-grandchildren Gabriella Regan, Connor Regan, and great-granddaughter Isabella Regan. She is also survived by her 5 siblings: Daniel Smith, Richard Smith, Patricia Smith, James Smith and Paul Smith. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Dezseran-Becker, father Paul Smith, and mother Noreen Smith.

Joyce was a faithful born-again Christian and attended the Christian Bible Church in Nashua, NH. She enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox, volunteering, solving crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and attending family events and her grandchildren’s games and shows.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Christian Bible Church, 205 Manchester St. Nashua, NH, 03064, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Cards from friends and family can be sent at any time prior to the service, but we ask that if anyone chooses to send plants or flowers, please do not schedule them to arrive at the church any sooner than Friday March 15th.
