Charles R. Mellen

Bradenton – Charles R. Mellen, died February 15, 2024, at his winter home in NW Bradenton, FL. Charley was a resident of Hampton, NH.

Charley was born July 11, 1934, in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Charles R. and Lucy Mellen.

Charley graduated from Keith Academy, Lowell, MA, University of Massachusetts, and Boston College. Charley was a teacher of Mathematics and baseball coach for Nashua High School, Lowell State College, Lowell High School, and Keith Academy.

Charley led the Nashua High School baseball team to four Class L State Championships in 1976, 1979, 1991, 1993 and was inducted in the 1994 Nashua Athletics Hall of Fame.

Charley is survived by his four children; Martha Jane and Michael Flynn of NW Bradenton, Charles and Roxanne Mellen of Nashua, NH, Kristina G. Mellen of Nashua, and Jeffrey and Nancy Mellen of Reno, Nevada; eight grandchildren; Josh and Becky Vogel, Erin and Deigo Felipe, Charles R. Mellen III, Katelyn Maloney, Jared Maloney, Katherine Mellen, Annie Mellen, and Sara Mellen. He has one great-child and a new baby due in March, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life services will be held in Nashua and a Catholic Mass at St. Michael’s Church, Lowell, MA will be celebrated in May 2024. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell, MA.
