Barbara Bishop

Barbara Bishop, 89, of Nashua, passed away peacefully at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA on Monday January 15, 2024. She was born in Adams, MA on August 16, 1934, and moved to Pittsfield, MA at the age of ten when her father became Coach at Pittsfield High School. She was the beloved wife of Richard C. Bishop (high school sweethearts) shared 65 years of marriage and the daughter of the late Arthur (Coach) and Beatrice Fox.
Barbara was a longtime resident of Nashua and worked as an RN for 55 years. Her career started at Hillcrest Hospital in Pittsfield then she moved to Boston and worked as a charge nurse at Beth Israel Hospital Surgical Unit and later working at the Boston State Hospital. When she moved to Nashua, she worked at Nashua Memorial Hospital for 25 years. The last six years she was the charge nurse of the Med Surge unit. She moved on to Brookside Hospital and was charge nurse of the addiction unit and ended her career at Ridgewood Nursing home at 73 years old.
In previous years Barbara held titles of treasurer, secretary, and president of the Women’s Guild at the Parish of the Resurrection. She loved to run the church fairs and Rummage sales.
After retirement she volunteered at the Senior Center thrift shop in Nashua up until two months before her passing.
Barbara will forever be remembered as the sassy, straight shooter redhead who spoke her mind.
In addition to her husband Richard, Barbara is survived by her two sons Richard C. Bishop Jr. and his wife Kristan of Nashua, Lawrence Bishop and his wife Melissa of Rochester, her daughter Tina Bishop-Kotarba and husband Robert of Dracut, MA her eight grandchildren Ryan Bishop, Matthew Bishop, Jack Bishop, Riley Bishop, Samantha Bishop, Kevin Bishop and his wife Misty, Kaleigh Bishop-Kotarba and Keegan Bishop-Kotarba and her brother Arthur S. Fox Jr. and his wife Helene of Weeki Wachee, Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister Clementine Ferguson and her husband John.
Family and friends are invited to Barbara’s visitation on SUNDAY, January 21st from 10 AM until 12 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 KINSLEY STREET, NASHUA.
