William Miles Tate
William Miles Tate, 76, of Hudson, NH passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 30, 1947 in Nashua, son of the late Wesley William and Catherine (Ruiter) Tate. Bill was also predeceased by a son; Timothy Scott Tate, and his step father, Sanford King.
Bill was the beloved husband of Coleen (Coffey) Tate of Manchester, NH where they resided.
He was an Army Veteran who served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged from the service in 1967.
Bill put his heart and soul into his business, Tate Brother’s Paving Co.
He and his brother, Dick, started Tate Brothers 55 years ago with very minimal means.
Through his hard work and determination, Bill gained success. He was well respected in the business community. He was honest and fair in all his work. Those who had the pleasure of working with him knew that Bill would be there for them. His work nickname was “the fearless leader”, and he truly was. He had a way seeing potential in someone and made sure to help them rise and be successful.
Bill was not only a “fearless leader” at work. He was passionate about many issues in society. He was a confident public speaker and often shared his beliefs with others. He was not argumentative, but stood his ground, and shared what he believed was right.
Bill had a great sense of humor. He loved to kid people. He passed out nicknames like they were candy, and was always teasing and joking. He was an eternal optimist. He dealt with any challenge that arose, and moved on. He would frequently say, “everything will be all right”.
When Bill was not working, he and Coleen enjoyed traveling the backroads of the NH and VT. They shared weekend getaways and overnight stays in historic inns. Bill shared his knowledge and love with his 2 sons and daughter. He enjoyed time with all of the grandchildren.
His hobbies included vintage cars, auto racing, car auctions and making his rounds in town.
Bill was a great supporter of churches and made contributions over the years to the Victory Baptist Church of Londonderry, First United Methodist Church of Manchester, and the Salvation of Army. He often said, “money is only as good as what it can do for others.” He was an incredibly generous man who helped many people.
Besides his wife Coleen, Bill’s devoted family includes a brother; Richard “Dick” Tate of Hudson, a daughter; Paula Suzanne Tate and her significant other Ronald Trudeau of Nashua NH, a son; Wesley Tate of Londonderry, NH, a son; Kyle Tate and his significant other Alysa Geddes of Hudson, NH.
His loved grandchildren; Ashley Hubbell of Londonderry NH, Daryl Wayne Hubbell of Malibu, CA, Joshua Tate and his fiancée Ally Burke of Manchester NH, Jessica Rose Tate and her fiancée Nick Pariseault of Londonderry, NH, Emma Nault-Tate of Londonderry, NH, Paisley Tate and Jayla Tate.
Great Grandchildren; Cole Hubbell and Coby Hubbell of Londonderry, NH, Bill’s stepchildren; Lisa Wiggins of Manchester NH and Kenneth Lyle Tarbox Jr of Londonderry NH, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren on Coleen’s side of the family, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also extended family including the King’s.
Following cremation and a private service for the family, A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the White Birch Catering & Banquet Hall, 222 Central Street, in Hudson on January 20th from 11am ~ 4pm.
