Jeanette L. Blake
On December 1st, 2023, Jeanette L. Blake (Card) of Hudson NH, passed away at the age of 88 in her bed at Premier Nursing Home after fighting a long, hard battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Her passing brings great sorrow but also bittersweet relief to her family that watched her suffer for so long with a relentless and unforgiving disease.
Jeanette was born in Concord, NH in 1935 to Charles and Arline Card (Constant). She was the oldest of 5 children. They eventually moved to Chelmsford, MA where she attended and graduated from Chelmsford High School.
Jeanette met the love of her life, Clifford “Cliffy” Blake in 1955. It was a fast moving courtship and the two were married later that year. They went on to raise 5 children of their own in Lowell, MA. Nothing mattered more to her than her children and being a loving and caring housewife and mother.
Jeanette and Cliff loved to travel in their RV all over the east coast with their family. They also loved to bowl and traveled to many states for tournaments. Jeannette was born with only one arm but she never let that stop her from doing what she wanted to do. She was a championship bowler with many large trophies to prove it.
Later in life, Jeanette and Cliff eventually settled in Hudson, NH where she raised the youngest of her children. In her free time, she crocheted and crafted to her heart’s content. Her passion was attending and selling her goods at craft shows. It was truly a hobby that she poured her heart and soul into, whenever she wasn’t being a doting mother and grandmother. She also loved to play cribbage and she and Cliffy, were involved in many leagues throughout the years. They were a social, happy couple always shining their light together, whatever they did.
Jeanette will always be remembered for her kind heart and the way that she always loved with everything she had. Throughout her life, being a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother, were her greatest achievements. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her, every day.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her brother Norman Card and her first born daughter, Barbara Hamilton of FL.
She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Cliff Blake along with 3 siblings – John “JC” Card of Hudson, NH, Edward Card of Nashua NH and Sandra “Bootsie” Ashe of Burlington VT. She also leaves behind 4 children – Clifford “Kicker” Blake Jr. and his wife Bernadette of Lowell MA, Charles Blake of Sebago ME, JoAnn Blake of Lowell, MA and Heather Wasson and her husband Philip of Livermore, CA. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, including Melissa Jensen of Lowell, MA who was her loving bedside angel and caretaker while she was living through her last 8 years in a nursing home. We know now that she will be her, and all of our, guardian angel until we meet again.
