Leo Paul Fortier
Leo Paul Fortier, 87 years old, died October 21, 2023, at his home at in Nashua. He was born on January 26, 1936, in Biddeford Maine, the son of Joseph Fortier and Rose (Croteau) Fortier. Leo Paul was the devoted husband to the love of his life Aline (Dubois) Fortier. They were married on May 19, 1962, in Biddeford ME.
Leo Paul graduated from St Louis High School in Biddeford Maine in 1953 at the age of 17. Leo Paul was very patriotic and proud to serve for six years in the Navy. He was selected to be at the helm of his Radar Picket Ship whenever arriving into port.
He met his wife on a blind date set up by her aunt and his sister, they fell in love and were soon married. They celebrated their 61st anniversary in May. While he and his wife started their family, Leo Paul earned an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University. He worked at Barry Controls, then Nashua Corporation as an Industrial Engineer until 1978.
Leo Paul and his wife established and managed their family dry-cleaning business “Paul’s Cleaner” in 1978 until they retired. Their business provided employment for their children, and was a good foundation for great service and strong work ethics.
Leo Paul’s hobbies included playing baseball as a kid, enjoyed stained glass art, collecting coins, gardening, handyman work, and watching his Red Sox.
After retiring, Leo Paul and Aline dedicated much time to the Gideons Bible Ministry, and serving their church community.
Admired and respected for his intelligence, integrity, humor and generosity, Leo Paul was beloved by many.
Leo Paul is survived by his loving bride Aline, his sister Yolande Lowell, his brother Norman Fortier, his four children and their spouses: Denise Dyer and husband Bob, Carmen Fortier and partner Carolyn Patterson, Judy Gagne and husband Marc, Paul Fortier and wife Mindy. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Charity LeBlanc, Michelle Chaplin, Brittany Michaud, Brad Gagne, Alex Fortier, Nick Fortier and Aliyah Fortier, followed by seven great grandchildren: Aviana LeBlanc, Roman Chaplin, Vance Gagne, Amelia Michaud, Jonah Michaud, Jameson Michaud, and Melody Michaud.
SERVICES: Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Christian Bible Church in Nashua NH (205 Manchester St.). Burial will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, at NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH (110 Daniel Webster Hwy).
