Ann Fitzpatrick Larney

Oct 25, 2023

Ann Fitzpatrick Larney died on October 15, 2023, at High Pointe House hospice in Haverhill, Massachusetts, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1949, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and was the daughter of Thomas and Pauline (Meloy) Fitzpatrick.

Ann was the wife of William (“Bill”) T. Larney. They had been married for fifty years this August. Most of their time together was spent in Nashua, New Hampshire where they built their careers and raised their family.

Ann graduated from Keith Hall in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1967 and went onto Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. It was while in college that she met her husband, Bill. Following college Ann earned a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College in New York.

Ann worked as a social worker in New Jersey and later in New Hampshire. When Ann’s children reached school age, she returned to school herself, graduating magna cum laude from New England School of Law. After earning her JD, Ann joined the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office where she eventually went on to become an Associate Attorney General. After retiring from the Attorney General’s office Ann continued to use her law degree to support organizations that were important to her. She served as Public Affairs Director for New Hampshire Planned Parenthood and Senior Staff Attorney for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire.

Ann was active in politics and loved to read. She planned and enjoyed trips all over the US, Caribbean, and Europe. Most of all she was an outdoor enthusiast. An avid skier, Ann spent many of her winters on the cross-country trails of Waterville Valley. She was always at her most content outside, even if it was just for a simple walk.

Admired and respected for her intelligence, integrity, humor and kindness, Ann was beloved by many. She was a trusted friend, loving wife, supportive mother, and a doting nana.

Ann was predeceased by her brother Paul Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her husband Bill Larney, her daughter Kathleen Larney and her husband Paul Novotny, her son Timothy Larney and his wife Stephanie Nugent, as well as her grandsons Cian and Brendan Novotny and Finn Larney.
