Dr. John Jerome Posner
Dr. John Jerome Posner, born October 10, 1940 in Newark, NJ to Sidney and Ann Posner, passed away on October 7, 2023. His mother, Ann Posner, died when Dr. Posner was 9 years-old, after which his father was re-married to Hazel Posner.
Dr. Posner graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in New York, then completed medical school at the New York Medical College. He worked for the Indian Health Service from 1971-73 providing medical care to remote communities in Alaska, and then completed his medical training in oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Posner moved to Nashua, NH in 1974 with his wife and three sons. That same year, he was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. Nevertheless, he continued to practice oncology in Nashua for over 30 years. Dr. Posner cared for countless patients while practicing medicine and is remembered as a physician endowed with expectational medical knowledge and great compassion. After he retired in 2008, he and his wife moved to Portland, OR, where they have lived for the past decade.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Posner was passionate about education, literature, poetry, history, exercise, and his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betsy Posner, his three children, three daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. May his memory be a blessing.
