ARMSTRONG, Donald S.

Of Hudson, NH and formerly of Millis, MA, died unexpectedly at his home on September 9, 2023.

Donald was born on September 2, 1938 and raised in Massachusetts by the late John E. and Wanda (Mirowski) Armstrong Foster. After graduating high school, he distinguished himself with service to his country by enlisting in the United States Navy.

After his honorable discharge, Donald worked for Polaroid Corp. as a Quality Control Technician. He spent his entire career with Polaroid.

In Millis, he and his wife Claire (Wanders) Armstrong, whom we lost in 2006, raised their family and spent many happy years. He was a former member of the Millis Amvets, and a sports fan. He rooted for all the New England teams, but also, the Minnesota Vikings. And Donald would never miss a chance to watch a re-run of his favorite film, The Quiet Man.

Donald is survived by his children Kenneth Armstrong of ME, Barbara Coyne and her husband Liam of Foxborough, Donald J. Armstrong of ME, John F. Armstrong of NH, and Edward A. Armstrong and his partner Mandy Bither of ME, as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his sister Wanda “Candy” Long of Reading. Sadly, Donald was preceded in death by his son Steven J. Armstrong.

A Memorial Service celebrating Donald’s life will be on Thursday, September 21, 2023, 12:00 Noon, at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, MA 02054, followed by burial with military honors at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Visiting hours will precede the service from 10:00 AM until Noon.
