David N. Rasmussen
Exeter – David N. Rasmussen, 82, died peacefully on July 12, 2023 at Exeter Hospital.
He was the son of Peder and Helen (Ecklund) Rasmussen.
A proud graduate of the University of Denver, Dave also attended Texas A&M University as well as Berkley College of Music. He was a business executive in the computer industry, spending much of his career at Digital Equipment Corporation in southern NH. In his retirement years, Dave enjoyed working as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University as well as traveling with his family.
Next to his family, Dave’s greatest passion was Jazz. His lifelong passion for music included the playing of the piano, saxophone, clarinet, and flute. As a composer and arranger, Dave formed the Dave Rasmussen Jazz Orchestra as well as the Sax Factory, playing venues throughout southern NH and northern MA. He also released several albums throughout his music career.
He was a Master Mason and attended St. Mary Church in Newmarket, NH.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Helen (O’Neil) Rasmussen; his daughter Angela and son-in-law Patrick; 2 grandchildren, Alex and Cate, and 5 nieces and 1 nephew. David was predeceased by his brother, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11AM at St. Mary Church in Newmarket. Burial will be held at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorials donations may be made to the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
