Emma Katherine Nelson

Emma Katherine Nelson, 99, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2023, at the Huntington of Nashua, two months short of her 100th birthday. She was born in Sloansville, NY on September 12, 1923, daughter of the late Edward Long and Marian (Sinko) Long. She was the loving wife of the late Harlow A. Nelson, who passed away in 2012. She attended the Scholarie Central School, graduating in 1939 at the age of 15.

Emma was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. She was an accomplished seamstress, bowler, and golfer back in the day and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Emma was also an exceptional cook, especially in Hungarian Cuisine.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her children: Richard A. Nelson and his wife, Susan, of Cordova, Tennessee; Gary E. Nelson and his wife, Kathy of Hollis, NH; and David H. Nelson and his wife, Lyn, of Nashua, NH. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Peter, Stephen, Daniel Nelson and Maria Cox; Garrett Nelson; and Emmary and Alianna Nelson; and her great grandchildren: Hannah, Karis, Juniper and Phoebe; Julia, Charles and Audrey; and Noah and John David. She is also survived by her brother, Henry E. Long and niece, Star L. Pfiffner.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spit Brook Rd., Nashua, NH 03062 on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 10:30 am with a reception to immediately follow in the fellowship hall. Friends and family are invited to attend.
