Vivian Norma Rowe

Vivian Norma Rowe, 79, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, at her home in Nashua, NH, surrounded by loving family. She was born May 12, 1944, in New Haven, CT. She was the first child of Martin and Gladys (Friedland) Miller. She was the wife of Dr. Albee Budnitz. They married April 23, 1992, and enjoyed 31 loving years together.

Vivian graduated from James Hillhouse Highschool in New Haven, CT in 1961. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1994 from now SNHU. Vivian worked in communications for over 30 years, first as supervisor at Matthew Thorton Health Plan and then as Director Southern Region Dartmouth Hitchcock. She was passionate, dedicated, always doing her best, which was superlative.

She was an extremely caring person and contributed to many local community organizations. She was a long-time member of the Temple Beth Abraham in Nashua, NH, as well as a member of the Nashua YMCA for over 30 years.

When not in service to others, she enjoyed reading, singing, playing piano and listening to music. She loved Elvis and was even the president of his New Haven fan club as a teen. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots teams. She loved to run and attended several 5 and 10K races. She won 1st place in 2007 at the Chicago, IL Grant Park race (in the Females 60 and over category). Vivan was active in Politics with the steadfast belief of equality and justice for all people.

Vivian had a sensational sense of humor and an unforgettable, infectious laugh. She was selflessly generous with her time and often offered supportive advice to her family and friends who sought and needed it. She was a loving and doting Grandmother (Grammy) to her 14 Grandchildren. She was affectionate and attentive to her children and extremely proud of their accomplishments in life as well as the kind, caring adults they had become. She was admired and respected for her intelligence and astounding ability to remember dates, names, phone numbers and document locations, when asked, instantly. There will be a great sense of loss felt throughout many communities near and far with her passing.

Vivian is predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Miller (2016)

She is survived by her devoted Husband of 31 years, Albee Budnitz, loving Daughter Melissa Arel and Husband Matthew, dedicated Son Martin Rowe and Wife Jennifer, caring Stepson Alexander Budnitz and Wife Carly, kindhearted Stepdaughters Hannah Budnitz and Husband Guy, and Elena Ruizzo and Husband Ken and 14 Grandchildren; as well as adoring Sisters Sybil Davis and Husband Thomas, Shelley Davis and Husband Guillermo, brother, David Davis, supportive Sister-in-Law Shirley Karcher in addition to 17 nieces and nephews

SERVICES: A “Celebration of Life” will be held on October 8th, 2023, at the Nashua Country Club, 25 Fairway Drive, Nashua, NH 03060 from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vivian’s loving name can be made to the Bishop Guertin Vivian Rowe “Inclusion” Scholarship at 194 Lund Rd, Nashua, NH, 03060 and/or to Temple Beth Abraham, 4 Raymond St, Nashua, NH 03064.
