Roland ‘Ron’ Miller

Roland “Ron” Miller, 88, of Tom Bean, Texas – Formerly a long-term resident of Nashua, NH passed away on Friday June 9, 2023, at the TMC Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born June 27, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Jaeckel) Miller.

Mr. Miller was a veteran of the United States Naval Submarine Service achieving the highest enlisted rank of Master Chief Petty Officer over his distinguished 24 years of service. Master Chief Miller served in the Korean War as well as several tours within the Vietnam theater of operation. Master Chief Miller was very involved with the local VFW Post 5791, rising through its local leadership ranks then to the state level achieving his appointment as the State VFW Commander for the Department of New Hampshire serving his term from 2009 – 2010. Mr. Miller was also a proud member of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), the local American Legion Post, and the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC).

After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Miller worked for International Shoe Machine Corporation as an Industrial Supervisor then retired again after more than a decade with Lockheed Martin/BAE Systems.

He was widowed by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn C. Miller, who passed away on December 19, 2014.

Roland is survived by his three children: Colleen (Miller) Elways and her husband James of Nashua, Cheryl (Miller) Carter and her husband Craig of Nashua and Ron Miller Jr and his wife Pauline of Tom Bean Texas. Roland is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer Roy, Jessica Elways, Daniel Miller, Alyssa Kusmin, Katherine Carter, and Allison Aubut. Four great grandchildren; Tyler Roy, Penelope Camirand, Jackson Kusmin, and Thomas Miller, his sister Debbie Klimo and her husband Robert, of Olmstead Township, Ohio as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins. Roland was predeceased by his brother Thomas Owen Miller and a sister Ruthann Smith-Coon.

A grave side service will take place at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH at 10:00 am, Monday August 14th.

In lieu of flowers, the family simply asks that you simply seek out and “Thank a Veteran.”
