Nelson Lee Field

Nelson Lee Field, 79, of Brookline, NH. and formerly of Nashua, passed away Thursday evening, July 20, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, after a brief period of declining health.

A resident of Brookline for more than forty years, he was born in Nashua on November 13, 1943, a son of the late Albert J. and Jeanne (Hudon) Field. “Nellie” grew up in Nashua and was educated in local schools.

Nellie was employed by Sears Roebuck & Company in Manchester for over thirty years. Doing his long career there, he worked on small engines including lawnmowers, snowblowers and other outdoor power equipment. He was a valuable Sears employee, even winning service awards during his time there.

An active outdoorsman, Nellie enjoyed maintaining his vegetable gardens and was an avid fisherman. His fishing trips included many favorite destinations such as Alaska and throughout the New England area. He had many favorite secret fishing holes, their whereabouts were kept a closely guarded secret. Nellie will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality, visiting his many friends and telling stories, as well as an occasional dabble into distilling.

Nellie was predeceased by his wife, Donna J. (Kerns) Field, who passed away October 31, 2022. They were married on New Years Eve in 1990 and shared thirty years together.

Members of his family include his son and daughter-in-law, Joel C. and Stacie Sanborn of Brookline; three grandsons, Jared, Conor and Kyle Sanborn; and several cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, Nellie was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Nathan Field; and his sister, Nureen M. Marth.
