Jason Caru ‘Jake’ Henderson

Honoring Jason Caru “Jake” Henderson: The Wandering Soul with a Sweet Slap Kick!

On October 15, 1970, in the city of Boston, the world welcomed a spirited soul named Jason Caru Henderson, affectionately known as Jake. And on July 15th, 2023, in Nashua, NH, the world said goodbye to a nomadic legend who lived life on his terms until the very end.

He was the youngest of 7 siblings born to Ronald and Phyllis Henderson, the baby of the family. He later had a step-mother, Ruth Ann, who had 3 sons with Ron; they became brothers to Jake.

In his youth, he played football, loved biking, and cream cheese and jelly sammiches. Jake was a karaoke enthusiast and could readily light up a room with his smooth moves. He cared about others, going the extra mile – akin to a good Samaritan.

In his later years, Jake was an enigma, a wanderer by nature. He sojourned the highways and byways, living an unconventional life. From the cities of MA and Southern NH to the beauty of the White Mountains, he moved through life, handling the twists, turns, and obstacles that came his way. He was a true testament to the human spirit, resilient and resourceful in the face of personal challenges. Who else could turn a cardboard box into a mobile home and cheese and coffee into a gourmet meal? PS, he managed to keep himself well-kempt, proving that you can be a wanderer without looking like a bit of a Sasquatch.

Through all the adventures and misadventures, Jake remained an endearing character. His innovative nature knew no bounds; he could do amazing things with duct tape, super glue, and a Sharpie.

One of his lifelong dreams was to travel to Japan, a place that held a special allure in his heart. Maybe now, in the great beyond, he’s swapping tales with samurais and sharing laughs with geishas with his father, Ron.

Despite his nomadic lifestyle, he always knew he could anchor at home, with family. Jake enjoyed celebrating holidays, always finding his way back home to break bread. Maybe a day late and a dollar short but no matter, he was always welcome with open arms. The rando visits at 2am, well… it happens. Above all, Jake was a generous, kind, and thoughtful soul with a slap-kicking sense of humor. His laughter was distinct and infectious.

Shine on you crazy diamond.

We plan to have a gathering for family and friends on 8/26 at 2pm at Gail and Ron’s in Hollis, NH. For details, please call or text Kristen (603) 305-0122.
