Kathryn ‘Kathy’ Kormondy Shea

Kathryn “Kathy” Kormondy Shea, 82, of Merrimack, NH went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.

Kathy was born in Beacon, NY on July 3rd, 1941 to the late Charles and Hilda (Kranz) Kormondy. She was raised in Beacon, NY, graduated from Beacon High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT in 1963.

Kathy was a teacher for many years at the elementary school level in the Hudson, NH school district and specialized in related learning disabilities. In addition to teaching, Kathy also worked at Merrimack Pharmacy for several years and at Home, Health, and Hospice as a caregiver.

Kathy was married to Paul Bartholomew Shea of Merrimack, NH on August 2, 1975, and had resided in Merrimack for over 45 years. Married for 48 years, Paul and Kathy traveled extensively and had an amazing and adventurous life together, creating many lasting memories along the way.

Kathy was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a loyal friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked to read and loved skiing, snowshoeing, walking for exercise, and participating in a variety of outdoor activities including zip-lining and sky-diving! She is fondly remembered for her infectious smile and laugh, her extra-long hugs, and her overall kindness and warmth. Kathy had an adventurous spirit…….and enjoyed life!

She will be forever loved and remembered by her loving and devoted husband, Paul B. Shea of Merrimack; her daughter Dawn A. Shea and wife Melinda Donahue of Deerfield; a brother-in-law George Parow Sr. of Rock Hill, SC; several nephews: James W. Kormondy & family, Palm Bay, FL; Robert C. Kormondy Jr. & family of Jacksonville, FL; Lee A. Kormondy & family, Diamond Head, LA; George A. Parow, Jr. & family, Danbury, CT; Kenneth C. Parow & family, Troy, NY; and nieces: Sandra L. Parow & family, Charlotte NC; Jennifer Parow Anselmo, Mint Hill, NC; and her many life-long friends.

Kathy was predeceased by her brother and wife, Robert C. and Mary Lou (Cederborg) Kormondy of Indian Harbor Beach, FL, and her sister, Mary Ellen (Kormondy) Parow of Rock Hill, S.C.

Visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 4-7pm. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11am. A burial will be held privately at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Hudson, NH, at a later time.
