William W. Stocking

Jun 22, 2023

William W. Stocking, a kind and generous man who loved his family, passed away at home surrounded by them on June 15, 2023. William was born on May 10, 1930, in Cadillac, Michigan to Dexter and Margret Stocking. William always spoke his mind and sometimes he didn’t. He was known for his competitive nature and devout Catholicism. Following the Korean War where he served in the Army, William returned home and married Yvette Tanguay. She was the love of his life and mother of his beloved children Denis, Jerry, and Donald. William worked at Bronze Craft from 1952 until he retired in 1992. At retirement, he took on a different role as the caregiver for Yvette after she became ill. He remained her caregiver until she passed away. William grew up in Michigan where he spent winters collecting ice with a horse-drawn sled for refrigeration before trees were cleared to make way for electrical poles. He also spent most of his early years on a farm with no electricity. After moving to New Hampshire, William enjoyed weekends camping at Mile Away Campground in Henniker NH, hunting, and had a love for gardening. He enjoyed line dancing and played cards and bowled regularly well into his 90s. William volunteered at the Red Cross for many years; this was one of his proudest accomplishments. He is survived by his sons Jerry & wife Jill Stocking, Donald & wife Julie Stocking; daughter-in-law Lynn Stocking; grandchildren; great-grandchildren along with extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his son Denis, his first wife Yvette, and second wife Lillian. Services will be held in Nashua Baptist Church located at 555 Broad St Nashua NH on June 26th starting with funeral services scheduled from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM followed by burial services that will take place at St Louis de Gonzague Cemetery located on RT111 (W Hollis St), Nashua NH at 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. William lived a long and fulfilling life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong character, and devotion to his family. May he rest in peace. He will be deeply missed.
