Jun 22, 2023

Beverly Ann Hujsak, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at C.M.C. Hospital in Manchester, N.H. on Thursday, June 15th, 2023, surrounded by family. Beverly was born in Nashua. N.H. on October 1, 1935, to Otis and Sara (Haslam) Goodwin. She had one brother, Larry, and attended Nashua High School. She went on to study teaching at Keene State College where she met her future husband, lifetime partner, and the love of her life, Thomas Hujsak.

Married for 68 years, Bev and Tom had an amazing and adventurous life. They raised seven children, Linda, Michael, Casey, Debbee, Matthew, Jim, and Jon. Bev was an army wife and stay at home Mom for many years, guiding the family as they moved frequently due to military requirements. Moving from NH to Colorado after getting married, future homes included New Jersey twice, Connecticut, Alaska, Florida, and Oklahoma. She accepted the challenge of homesteading in Alaska when no military housing was available. Together they built a home from the ground up. She clanged together pots and pans to scare away buffalo so the kids could catch the school bus. She also managed the household caring for their five young children during Tom’s deployment to Viet Nam.

Bev had a varied career after entering the workplace in 1974. Her most valued position was as a teacher’s assistant at Pennichuck Jr. High in Nashua. She loved being around kids and teaching them. In between she held several waitressing positions, all at restaurants owned or operated by her brother Larry. Once retired, winters were spent in Florida and summers in NH. She easily made friends and enjoyed her time living at Rainbow resort. She loved music and was a great dancer. She was a magnet for the entertainers at shows.

Bev loved their house on Highland Lake, which they built themselves. This was their home for 25 years and the place of many family gatherings and memories. She transformed the dirt and stone into beautiful gardens. She hand-pulled the weeds from the lake front and created a sandy beach. She loved going out on the boat and watching the grandkids fish off the dock.

Beverly was beautiful, inside, and out, and loved by all. She was the matriarch of a large and extended family and always the center of the family. She was known as Beverly, Mom, Bev, and Dear, but most of all as Grammy. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. They are Cheryl, Keith, Tracy, John, Chris, Kellie, Brian, Courtney, Tyler, Holly, Sarah, Conner, Camden and Caiden. She also had 11 great grandchildren. She loved watching all her kids and grandkids play many sports and attended more games than you could count. She never missed a wedding and was always center stage on the dance floor.

Beverly was also a fabulous cook, well known for her homemade pizza. She often read 2 or 3 books a week. She was an avid golfer who won many a longest drive contest and had a hole-in-one to her credit. She also spent many hours creating and tending flower gardens at her many homes.

Beverly is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Thomas Paul Hujsak of Goffstown, N.H, her children Michael Hujsak and wife Lynne of Amherst, NH, Casey Goodridge of Hooksett, NH, Debbee Carter and partner Andy Mindel of Salisbury, MA, Jon Hujsak and partner Sandra Contreras of Nashua, NH, Jim Hujsak and partner Jen Moquin of Goffstown, NH, and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Hujsak, son Matt Hujsak, and her brother Lawrence Goodwin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 29 at 2 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen N.H.
