George W. ‘Bill’ Reilly

Jun 20, 2023

George W. “Bill” Reilly, 91, died Thursday, May 18, 2023. He passed away in Milford, NH. He was born on March 8, 1932, in Boston, MA., the son of George Walter and Mary Reilly.

George was the husband of Jean Reilly. They were married on May 13, 1961, in Roslindale, MA. They had been married for 61years. Bill and Jean had two children, Kevin, and Maryann.

Bill was born and raised in the Boston area, soon to settle in Roslindale, MA, where he lived most of his life. Bill was the elder of his sibling, Paul Reilly. At the age of 20, Bill served in the United States Army, stationed in CA where he served two years before returning to Boston, working for the Boston Edison Co. until retirement.

Bill was an Irishman at heart and devoted catholic. He would dress in his best hunter green suit serving as an usherman at St. John’s church, never missing a Sunday mass. He loved to socialize any chance he could get to tell his endless repertoire of jokes. He always loved to make people laugh and could deliver a joke like no other.

His hobbies growing up were baseball, tap dancing, fishing, and bowling. In his downtime, Bill would read for hours on end in the captivating world of true crime books.

One thing no one could argue is that Bill was a dedicated avid New England sports fan. He was a season ticket holder for the Boston Bruins for many years. His loyalty never failed him through the ups and downs of victories and defeats of his favorite teams in New England.

Bill loved his grandchildren immensely. They called him “Bubba”. He loved to read to Nicole, Derek, and Jenna. They would sit alongside him, and he’d tell the story as if the characters were coming to life. Bubba enjoyed joking around, making them laugh or just sitting outside to watch them play. They loved him too.

Bill leaves behind his thirst to make people laugh, his love for his family, his dedication to his country. He will truly be missed.

Bill is predeceased by his brother Paul, his wife, Jean, his son Kevin and his granddaughter, Jenna.

Survivors include his daughter, Maryann, and her husband George. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Nicole, and Derek.

A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish, 216 E. Dunstable Rd, Nashua, NH 03062, on Monday, June 26th at 10:00am
