Theodora Halvatzes

Theodora Halvatzes, 98, of Goffstown passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023 after a period of declining health at the Hillsborough County nursing home.

She was born “on the farm” in Hollis, New Hampshire. The daughter of Anthony and Effrosine (Yaprakas) Hagiadams, she was the fourth of six children and grew up on a poultry farm, which was one of the largest in New Hampshire during the 1940s. She quit high school her junior year to work the farm as her father was ill and needed help.

In April of 1946, she met John Halvatzes at a relatives wedding in Connecticut and they eventually married on September 7, 1947. As their family grew, they moved around until they settled in Merrimack, New Hampshire in 1957 and that’s where they started the Poultry Rama Drive in restaurant in 1960. They retired and moved to Weare New Hampshire in the early 80s and moved to Florida in 1987 and then returned to New Hampshire in 2014. Dora and John were married for 68 years and did extensive traveling to Greece and the USA.

Theodora is pre-deceased by her husband John in 2015; and also her siblings Martha, Nick, Jim, Anna, and Bessie. She leaves a large family, four children, and their spouses Anna and John O’Neill of Abbeville, Alabama, Anthony and Linda Halvatzes of Bedford, Constantine and Karen Halvatzes of Milford, and John and Patricia Halvatzes of Goffstown; along with 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Theodora was a very kind and loving person to her family and all those who were lucky enough to know her… she will be missed and forever in our hearts.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, New Hampshire 03060. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St, Nashua, New Hampshire 03062. A burial will occur Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Last Rest Cemetery, 7 Hillside Terrace, Merrimack, NH.
