Alexandra ‘Sandy’ Mattis

Alexandra “Sandy” Mattis, 59, of Merrimack, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5th. She was born on March 12,1964 in New London, CT. She is the daughter of Rev. William G. and Maria P. (Palvides) Mattis.

Sandy grew up in New London, CT and moved to Nashua where she graduated from Mt. Hope School in 1982. Upon graduation, she became part of the PLUS Company, a wonderful organization dedicated to creating opportunities for those with disabilities. She was involved with the Special Olympics for many years where she won 2 Gold Medals and competed in various events with bowling being her favorite. The PLUSCompany also gave her the opportunity to work with various companies that included Digital Equipment and Cirtronics among others where she impressed coworkers with her determination and attention to detail.

In her leisure, she enjoyed puzzles, needlepoint, gardening, shopping, and walking. She loved animals and keeping a clean house while her greatest joy was spending time at Peaslee house with her housemates and caretakers who she adored immensely.

Sandy brought passion and joy to everything she did and everyone she met. Whenever you were around her, you could not help but to captivated but beautiful smile and enormous, loving hugs.

Sandy is survived by her parents Rev. William G. Mattis and Maria P. Mattis; brother George Mattis and his wife Cherie Jorgensen: nephew William Mattis; and niece Juliann Mattis.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, New Hampshire 03060, followed by a Trisagion at 7:00 PM.
