Virginia ‘Ginger’ C. (Garfi) Famisan
Virginia “Ginger” C. (Garfi) Famisan, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by family, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA. She was born on January 24, 1955 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA, to Horace & Concetta (Zammitti) Garfi. She was a resident of Newburyport and graduated with the Class of 1973 from Newburyport High School. Ginger double majored in early childhood education and nutrition and earned her Bachelor’s Degree graduating in 1977 from Rivier College, Nashua, NH. She married her college sweetheart, Nathaniel L. Famisan, on November 19, 1978 in Newburyport, MA. Ginger and Nate raised three children in their home in Litchfield, NH. She taught preschool for 19 years first at Kermit Kiddie Kollege and later at Country Bear Preschool, both in Hudson, NH. The hundreds of students who passed through her classrooms affectionately referred to her as “Miss Ginger.” She was incredibly outgoing and loved to travel, going on adventures, learning and sharing what she learned with others. Her family and friends were amongst her biggest passions. She was a fantastic home cook and baker and made the weekly family dinners she and Nate hosted a priority, even after her children moved out to start their own families! Ginger was completely selfless, had a wonderful warmth and the ability to make anyone feel welcome at her table. She loved movies, board games / family game nights and playing cards which had been a long-running weekly event with her closest girlfriends. She enjoyed time outdoors: gardening (especially to attract her favorite backyard visitors – hummingbirds), swimming and being near any body of water (ocean, lake or poolside). She held close the traditions in which she was raised and instilled those traditions and values in her own family.
She is survived by her husband, Nate; daughter Alison Famisan-Levasseur, her husband Nickolas Levasseur and their son, Atticus; son Jarod Famisan, his partner Kaci Allard ( her daughter Natalie) and his children Keegan and Kaylee (with former spouse, Amber Famisan); son Trevor Famisan; older sister Janice and husband Bret Green; younger sister Victoria Glynn and partner Phil Stickney; several nieces and nephews: Marcus Green, Devin Green (who she also proudly knew as her godson) and his wife Peggy, William Glynn and his wife Bethany, and Sara Glynn, and much adored their children – her great nephews and niece. She was predeceased by her parents and older sister Ann Marie Dionne.
Family, friends, and others are invited to the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson, NH 03051 from 4 to 7 pm on May 11, 2023 as well as a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, 9 Saint Francis Way, Litchfield, NH 03052 at 11 am on Friday, May 12, 2023. All may meet at church. There will be a precessional following mass to her final resting place at Pinecrest Cemetery, Litchfield, NH. Following Friday’s service the family would like to extend an invitation to celebrate Ginger at a gathering in her son Jarod’s home.
