Louise (Laroche) Hobden

Apr 28, 2023

LITCHFIELD — Louise Hobden, 73, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday April 15, 2023 of complications related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Louise was the wife of Scott Hobden, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.

She was born in Berlin, NH on July 1,1949 to the late Armand and Alice Laroche and was a member of the Notre Dame High School Class of ’67. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science – Legal Secretary at NH Voc-Tech-Nashua.

Louise and Scott met and worked together at Nashua Country Club and later on were married there. They also worked together for many years at Manchester Country Club.

Louise was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She raised four children as well as two of her grandchildren. When her grandson Zach became ill she supported him and his dad Carl by accompanying them to Minnesota for specialized medical treatments. She loved to travel, visiting friends and family, and she and Scott were known to occasionally find their way into a casino.

Louise was diagnosed with COPD in 2012. She chose to live and she fought very hard to learn about this disease and to become her own best advocate. She was a member of the Board of Directors at Breathe NH and volunteered with the National COPD Foundation.

Louise also enjoyed the honor of speaking to first year Harvard Medical School students annually for the past five years about her personal journey, to help future pulmonologists develop a better understanding of the patient experience. She had many friends within these communities and truly leaves behind a legacy of hope for patients living with COPD.

In addition to her husband, Louise is survived by her four children; Roxanne Lupoli and her husband Vinnie, Carl Couture and his wife Carrie, Mary Allison Jensen and her husband Matt and Samantha Hobden Stringert and her husband Shea; and her ten grandchildren; Ashley Perry, Zachary Couture, Michael Lupoli, Anthony Lupoli, Reese Brown, Quinn Couture, Payton Brown, Mason Jensen, Cooper Stringert and Waverly Stringert.

She also leaves behind her sister Helen Laroche, brothers Rene Laroche and wife Snookie and Moe Laroche and wife Anne, and her uncle and godfather Louie Demers; many nieces, nephews and cousins and other beloved friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Nashua Country Club on Sunday May 21 at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you consider making a donation in Louise’s name to Breathe NH or the COPD Foundation.
