Florence Lavoie
Florence “Flo” Lavoie, 80, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023 after a brief illness. Flo spent the last days of her life with her loving son by her side at Community Hospice House, to whom the family will be forever indebted for their caring and compassion in granting her the comfort and dignity that she so deserved.
Flo was born on June 22, 1942 to her wonderful parents; the late Alfred O. and Lena E. (Bernier) Lemay. Flo had fond memories of her humble upbringing in Nashua’s “Tree Streets” ( a predominantly French Canadian neighborhood at the time). She always recalled the presence of family and great food as being all that was needed to live a full and content childhood. Going to the corner store to get an ice cream to bring back and share with her dad or helping her mother create the next delicious table offering was all she needed.
After graduating from St. Louis High School, Flo embarked on a successful 38 year career at Sanders Associates (BAE Systems). Starting out as a secretary in Quality Assurance, Flo worked hard and was always respected by both her supervisors and coworkers alike. Before retiring in 2000, Flo’s hard work and dedication earned her advancements to eventually becoming a top Materials Control Manager in the company,
In 1980, Flo met and later married the LOVE of her life Norm, who she shared 40 years of marriage. Flo and Norm were the gold standard for what a mutually loving and caring union of 2 people should be. “Flo & Norm” was in reality one person.
After retiring, they enjoyed countless cruises to many wonderful island destinations, trips to the NH and Maine seacoasts in the summer and their beautiful Florida retirement home in the winters. True love was always the backdrop for this beautiful love story. It never mattered what they were doing, as long as they did it together. If Norm was shopping for a new golf club, Flo would be by his side, and conversely, if Flo was shopping for things to decorate her beautiful home, Norm was there with her. Regardless of what the shopping trip was for … the order of the day was always “Get whatever makes you happy”.
As a mother, Flo’s unwavering, unconditional love for her son left him with so many lifelong memories. This love was put to the test many times during his early adult years, but a mothers love always proved absolute. It is with her love and support that he was able to get through it all. He still, and always will use this as an example of how to live life the “Flo Way”. As a mother-in-law, Flo welcomed Susan into her world immediately. After the passing of Susan’s mother Catherine in 1997, Flo and Susan’s relationship grew even more. Their relationship was not unlike any great relationship that a “Mother and Daughter” could have.
Flo’s greatest joy in life was the arrival of her grandson Kyle in 1993. She provided so many memories of great Christmas mornings, trips to Toys R US and of course an endless supply of chocolate. As Kyle got older, he and Grammy enjoyed simply going out for breakfast and having their one-on-one time together.
Flo will be remembered for her Grace and Courage at the end of her life, but more so for her humble Kindness and Generosity that was on display her entire life. Simply put … Flo put everyone else before herself.
Flo is survived by her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law Brian and Susan (Cashin) Lefebvre of Nashua and her adoring grandson Kyle Lefebvre of Portland, Maine. Besides her parents, Flo was pre-deceased by the TRUE LOVE OF HER LIFE Norman P. Lavoie in 2021.
A private family celebration along with burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared by visiting www.ANCTIL-ROCHETTE.com
