Marilyn Bixby
Marilyn Bixby, of Merrimack, NH, passed suddenly on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the age of 67.
Marilyn was born in Providence, RI to George R. Bixby Jr. and Rita K. (Keane) Bixby on July 14, 1955. She lived in many places around the world as her father was in the USAF. The family settled in Chelmsford, MA in 1962. Marilyn graduated from Chelmsford High in 1973 and went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Lowell Vocational Technical.
Marilyn enjoyed a long career in nursing where she was loved by her patients, their families, and her peers. She recently retired from Nashua Dermatology, where she worked as Dr. Robert Posnick’s primary nurse for over 20 years.
Marilyn leaves behind the love of her life, Leon LaFlamme. They enjoyed spending time with their families, entertaining, and touring New England on their motorcycle, often with a group of friends. Marilyn was a fantastic cook and she and Leon had a garden that was envied by many every year. She had family Sundays, where the family was always welcome. She dearly loved those gatherings. Marilyn’s compassion was quiet, yet her goodness was freely given. She was a teacher and caretaker at heart. On her own time, she would teach the families of patients wound care so they could help their own loved ones. Marilyn loved to travel and was always up for adventure. As much as she loved NH, she was always planning her next trip to somewhere warm. Her favorites were family events across the country, and a helicopter ride to enjoy lunch on a private island in Punta Cana.
In addition to Leon, Marilyn will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter, Kelly Melim and her family, Kenneth Buenaflor, Maxwell Buenaflor and Charlotte Buenaflor. Marilyn’s son, Michael Melim predeceased her in 2019. Marilyn remained close to Michael’s family, Terry Melim, Quinn Melim, and Myles Melim. She also leaves Leon’s sons, Craig LaFlamme and his wife Carla, and Mark LaFlamme and his wife Jess, as well as many dear friends.
Marilyn was fiercely proud of her family and was their biggest cheerleaders. She sought the best in everyone and always had a success story about her children and grandchildren. She kept Michael’s memory alive for his sons so they would know their heritage and understand the love he held for them. Quinn, Myles, Max and Charlotte, Grandma loved you immensely and prayed for you every night when she was here on earth. She’s been promoted to be your guardian angel now and will watch over you with love and devotion.
Marilyn is survived by her five siblings and their spouses. Her brothers, George R. Bixby, III and his wife Patty of Lyndeborough, NH; Michael Bixby and his wife Karen Bushey of Pepperell, MA; Gregory Bixby and his wife Bonnie of Wilmington, NC. Marilyn held a special place in her heart for her sisters and their husbands, Jean and Thomas Cairney of Nashua, NH and Elizabeth and David White of Knoxville, TN. She was also the aunt and great aunt of several nieces and nephews.
