Gail A. Phillips

Feb 4, 2023

Gail A. Phillips, 84, of Nashua, NH passed away on January 27th at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell, MA from complications of COVID after many years of declining health due to Alzheimer’s. Gail was born on January 30, 1938 to the late Lawrence Burton Alling and Jeannette Lewis Alling of Fairfield County CT.

Exuberant and gregarious, Gail loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University where she made several lifelong friends as a Kappa Alpha Theta, she began her career as an elementary school teacher. Gail adored her students so much that she invited them to her wedding. After marrying William K. Phillips, the couple settled in Glastonbury, CT then Rowayton, CT where Gail had a wonderfully active social life while raising her four children in the seaside community.

Gail and her family relocated to Nashua in 1976 where she began her 35-year career as a realtor – becoming one of the top agents in the Nashua area for many years. Gail worked for the Norwood Group, DeWolfe and RE/MAX Properties with two of her daughters, Laura and Marnie.

Illustrating her strong spirit, at the age of 55 and after a lifelong fear of flying, Gail took a bold leap to become a flight attendant with American Airlines. Her 10 years in the sky were some of her most fulfilling years and lasted until 9/11 when she lost many friends and colleagues.

One of Gail’s greatest joys in her life was being “Gramma” to her four grandchildren – Joshua, Daniel, Matt and Michaela whom she cherished. Gail was a warmhearted mother, grandmother and friend. Everyone who had the delight of meeting or working with her came away with the same feeling; that she was beautiful both inside and out. Always with a smile on her face, Gail viewed each day as a blessing. Her loved ones will best remember her fun quirkiness and all the laughter, and are at peace knowing that Gailsy is reunited with her son, David and her beloved father whom she often asked for while suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Gail is survived by her three daughters, Marnie Phillips of Nashua, Allison Phillips Thomas of Merrimack, Laura Roussel and her husband Marc of Merrimack; four grandchildren, Joshua Roussel and his wife Laura of Hudson, Daniel Roussel of Fairplay, CO, Matthew Thomas of FL, Michaela Thomas and her significant other Spencer Hutchings of Jefferson; and one very special and much loved great grandchild, Luca Roussel. Gail was predeceased by her son David L. Phillips in 2016.

Calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack, NH on Sunday February 5th from 2 – 4 PM.

Rivet Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Friends are welcome to leave condolences at rivetfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the meaningful charity of your choice.
