Janet (Meuse) Bowden

Janet (Meuse) Bowden, 80 of Hudson, NH, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 after a brief illness.

Janet was born August 19, 1942 in Winchester, MA, daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred (Frotten) Meuse. She was also predeceased by her five sisters; Dorothy Vartanian, Esther Gentile, Milly Osgood, Marilyn Bergeron, Eleanor Boynton, as well as her brother, Lawrence Meuse. Janet was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Randi Bowden.

Janet grew up in Stoneham, MA and was a member of the graduating Class of 1960 from Stoneham High School. She later got married and moved to Hudson, NH.

Janet was a Crossing Guard while working at Howdy’s Beef Burger. She attended Hesser College where she earned her Associates Degree in Business. She was later employed with Kollsmans Industries, Omni Spectra, Nashua Children’s Association, and the Encoding Center. Janet was later employed with the IRS, until her retirement in 2011.

Janet was always keeping herself busy. She was a former member of the Hudson Task Force on Suicide Prevention, Hudson Junior Woman’s Club, Hudson Community Club, and Benson Park Committee. Janet was also a proud graduate of the Hudson Police Academy (where she was awarded the Annie Oakley award!) along with many other volunteer programs.

Janet loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to the beach, going to casinos, playing scat, planting flowers and recording and watching her favorite TV shows. She had an amazing sense of humor and will always be remembered for lending a helping hand to those in need.

She is survived by her three children Leonard A Bowden and his wife Louann, Dale M. Bowden and his wife Paula, Sherry Sanborn and her fiancé Robert Swinimer. Janet is also survived by her sister, Shirley Levoy, her grandchildren Ryan and Kyle Sanborn, Ciara and Donny Bowden, and her great grandchildren, Marissa, Jaelyn, Kevin, and Ronan. As well as many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime close friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 6th from 3pm – 6pm in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 11am in St. Patrick Cemetery, 75 Derry Road in Hudson. All may meet at the cemetery.
