Rita T. (Couture) Amato

Rita T. (Couture) Amato, 97, a lifelong resident of Nashua, NH passed away on December 24th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Rita was born in Nashua, NH on August 13, 1925. She was educated in the Nashua school system and worked for over 30 years in the Nashua School Cafeteria and also was employed for 10 years with Costco as a food demonstrator. Rita was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.

Rita enjoyed working in her yard, swimming in her daughter’s pool in the summer, relaxing on her deck and her visits with her dear friend and neighbor Meredith.

Rita’s greatest passion in life was the time she spent with her family and grandchildren and when her nieces from Florida and Tennessee would come to visit. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Rita and her husband John were married in 1953 and shared 48 years of marriage until his passing on March 21, 2001.

Members of her family are: a son, John Amato Jr. and his wife Cindy of Windham, NH, a daughter Lisa Parnagian and her husband Stephen of Hudson, NH, 3 grandchildren and their spouses and a great grandson. Chelsea Amato and her husband Jake Ferrigan of Texas, Jordan Parnagian and his wife Katelynn of Merrimack, NH, along with their son Ryan Parnagian, Jessica Labbe and her husband Patrick Labbe of Nashua. In addition to her parents and husband Rita was predeceased by her sister Jeanne Senecal Gallant.
