Robert (Bob) Leon Massey, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease at the Merrimack Home Health & Hospice Care.

Born to Adelard and Jeanette Massey on July 24th, 1945, Bob grew up in southern NH, calling both Nashua and Hudson his home for the majority of his life. He was an active member of the National Guard from 1966 through 1971 and married his wife Doris Massey (Vallaincourt) on February 4th, 1967; they were married 55 years and had 3 children.

Bob’s favorite pastime was coaching sports (most notably baseball and basketball) and he became an influential part of the community coaching and mentoring from tee ball all the way through high school. As many in the area are, he was an avid fan of all things New England sports including the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and later in life the UCONN Huskies.

He is survived by his wife Doris Massey (Vallaincourt), daughter Melissa Connors (Massey) and fiancé Jason Freeman, son Craig Massey and wife Abbey Racelis-Massey. Bob’s oldest daughter Laura Smalley (Massey) passed away due to complications in surgery in October 2018. They shared a special bond and will finally reunite and be able to watch Boston Bruins games together again. Her husband Phil Smalley has remained close to the family. Bob and Doris were also very lucky to meet a special neighbor later in life, Mary Ray, who was knowledgeable about Parkinson’s and helped the family navigate the illness.

Bob was also blessed with 2 grandchildren. His granddaughter, Morgan Connors, gave him his nickname Papa. They shared many secrets and stories. His grandson, Caden Massey, recently joined the family in December 2021 in San Diego. Caden was able to share many smiles and laughter with his grandfather, which Bob will take with him forever.

We will all miss Robert, Bob, Dad, Papa, Old Man Massey… very much. The family thanks everyone that touched his life.

At this time there will be no formal services per his wishes, but a celebration of life will be held in the spring.

Cheers,

Craig
