Sheela A. Mather

Sheela A. Mather, 75, of Hudson passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at The Courville of Nashua, after a long battle with illness.

Sheela was born on January 27, 1947, in Biddeford, ME, a daughter of the late Sylvio and Lucille (Perron) Aube. She spent her younger years growing up in Southwick, MA before relocating with her family to Nashua, where she graduated from Nashua High School in 1965. In December 1977, she married her husband of 38 years, the late Anthony “Tony” Mather, and the two of them moved to Amherst, the town where they called home for nearly 40 years and raised their family.

Sheela spent her working years in clerical roles, notably Sanders Associates in the 1970s and Fidelity Investments in the late 1990s before her retirement in 2000. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteer work at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Merrimack, drives to the NH and ME seacoasts with her husband Tony, weekend shopping trips, and watching period drama TV including Downton Abbey and Mad Men.

Sheela will be missed and never forgotten by her daughter Lee (Dubay) and husband Michael of Nashua; stepdaughter Susan Cheever of Milford, MA; and stepson Michael Mather and his wife Cynthia of Epsom. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Kaiser) and her husband Nick of Casa Grande, AZ; her brother Normand Aube and his wife Cindy of Stanford, KY; her grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, Jacob, and Joshua; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents, Sheela is predeceased by her husband Tony (1939-2017) as well as her sister Arline (Pelletier) and her husband Eugene of Goffstown.

A memorial service will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home on December 3rd at 2 pm ET. Internment will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
