Philip Joseph Forrest

Philip Joseph Forrest, 91, a lifelong resident of Nashua, ascended into God’s hands peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Helen C. (Tobin) Forrest with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Philip was born in Nashua on June 10, 1931 and later received his education both from the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Nashua and graduating from Mount Saint Charles in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

Philip met his future bride while he was a part of the St. John the Evangelists church choir in North Chelmsford, MA., where they would marry in 1955 after proudly serving his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged in 1954.

For many years, Philip was employed as a sales and marketing dispatcher for Law Motor Freight until his retirement.

Philip and Helen were founding members of St. Josephs the Worker Parish in Nashua. For over 60 years Philip participated actively in the choir, as a lector, and a Eucharistic Minister as well as participating in many other church activities. Philip loved the ocean where he enjoyed many years of swimming and deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage.

Philip and Helen raised their family in Nashua. He is survived by his wife Helen, his four sons, Stephen, Peter, Michael, and Thomas and his daughter Mary; as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David Gagnon and wife Janet of Warwick, RI, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jack Welch of North Chelmsford, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Philip’s Funeral Mass on THURSDAY, November 17th at 11 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment and presentation of military honors will follow in St. Louis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Corpus Christi Food Pantry in Nashua, NH.
