Nov 12, 2022

Margaret Mary (Sullivan) Parodi passed away at home on November 5, 2022 after a short illness. Known to her family and friends as Peg, she was born in Manchester on February 10, 1925, the fourth of six children and oldest daughter of George A. Sullivan and Alice (Fontaine) Sullivan. Peg was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George L. Parodi in 2017; their son, Paul R. Parodi in 2010; her brothers John Sullivan, George “Bud” Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan and sister, Olive “Din” Foley.. Peg is survived by her sister, Theresa Donati of Manchester; her sons, George A. Parodi (Maureen) of Derry; Robert M. Parodi (Erin Magee) of Brookline, NH; Thomas J. Parodi of Manchester; daughter Jean M. Marcus (John) of Eliot, Maine; and her daughter-in-law Suzanne Parodi of Auburn.

She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren: Anna, Julia, Joseph, William, Keri-Ann, Samuel, Katherine, Peter, Emily, Elizabeth, Eileen, Karin, Jennifer and Jillian; eleven great-grandchildren: Emma, Ian, Aidan, Clare, Nora, Henry, Benjamin, Aspen, June, Livia, and Riggs, and many loving nieces and nephews.

After being born and raised in Manchester, Peg did as many of the Greatest Generation and joined the Armed Services during World War II as a WAVE. After the war, while stationed in Washington DC, she met her husband George and they married on October 26, 1946. They were together until George’s passing in 2017.

Peg was a Navy wife and as such moved often. Her five children were born in Washington DC; Germany; Maine; Rhode Island and Massachusetts. A longtime resident of Derry, Peg and George operated Broadway Pizza in Derry for many years. They then resided in Auburn for several years and after George’s death, Peg moved into Bishop Primeau Apartments in Manchester where she loved her apartment and the many friends that she made there. More recently, Peg had lived in Brookline where she made new friends such as Kensleigh, Lindsey, Audrey, Joyce and all the Thursday night dinner crowd.

She lived life to the fullest, enjoyed Jeopardy, and thought that Zappe should start over Jones for the Patriots. We are especially grateful to Erin for the care, comfort and companionship she provided to Peg.

Peg was the best sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that anyone could have. She made the world a better place. “May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door. And happiness be with you now, And bless you evermore.”
