Bradley Martin Shreffler

Bradley Martin Shreffler, 83, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Carroll) Shreffler, whom he married on Oct. 29, 1989; they enjoyed traveling throughout the New England area, adopting English Springer Spaniels, and working in their garden.

He was born in Maywood, Illinois, on Oct. 17, 1939, son of the late Albert and Ivy (Rasmussen) Shreffler; and grandson of the late Anna and Martin Rasmussen, who helped raise him. He graduated from Waukesha High School in Wisconsin, then attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in the School of Education as an art major.

Brad was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, honorably discharged in 1962 as petty officer, 2nd class hospital corpsman. This experience defined his career path in the field of medicine. He began his employment at Milwaukee County Medical Center (now Froedtert Hospital) in 1969 as a hemodialysis technician and organ perfusionist in support of the transplant program. He was eventually responsible for the training and education of new staff. Brad continued his career servicing and selling medical equipment for major dialysis manufacturers. Prior to his retirement in 2011, he worked in facilities maintenance for the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center engineering department.

Brad was very knowledgeable and enjoyed crossword puzzles and Jeopardy; he was a history buff and being a “student of the English language,” he was a proud walking dictionary. He enjoyed reading mystery novels, poetry, opera, classical and jazz music, and above all else, frequenting art museums. He was a former member of the Opera Society of Nashua, and the Rise Organization at Rivier University.

Besides his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his three children, Suzanne Peters of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Bradley and Katie Williams of Edgewater, Florida, and Stefanie Rose of Madison, Wisconsin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Theresa Shreffler of Vienna, Virginia, and Jack and Carol Shreffler of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Erin, Bridget, Joe, Hanna, Joshua and Jacob; also several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved English Springer Spaniel, Mason. Extended family includes sisters-in-law, Sheila Carroll, Angela Carroll Fowler, Connie and David Peterson, Colleen and Darrel Eggers, and Theresa and David Nichols. He was the former husband of the late Judith Shreffler Williams, and brother-in-law of the late Margaret and Neal Nelson and James Fowler.
