Sr. Theresa Lawrence
Sr. Theresa Lawrence, p.m. (Sr. Ste. Madeleine-Marie), 99, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at her residence in Manchester. Born in Blackstone, Massachusetts, on Aug. 30, 1923. She was the daughter of Anthony Francis and Eldora (Bachand) Lawrence. She made her religious profession on July 2, 1947.
Sister obtained a bachelor’s degree at Rivier College and master’s degree at the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York, and an Ed.S. at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
She taught and was principal in various elementary and high schools in Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island until 1970 when she became faculty and chairperson of the business department at Rivier University. She was technical assistant at the Regina Library at Rivier University from 1993 until her retirement in 2016. She was on the Catholic Diocesan School Board of New Hampshire and was secretary for seven years. She was an advisory board member of the Oblates in Massachusetts and the Examination Board of N.E. Association of Business Teachers.
Among many others, she was the recipient of the Madeleine of Jesus Award in 2008 and from the New Hampshire Education Association for her service to business education. She retired at St. Joseph II in Manchester in 2016.
Sr. Theresa is predeceased by her parents Anthony and Eldora Lawrence; her brother, Dr. Francis Lawrence; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Mausseau and Mrs. Juliette Bernier; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Nasuti. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Madeleine Nasuti of Massachusetts and nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: A calling hour will be Thursday Oct. 6, 2022, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road, Hudson, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery, 182 Lowell Road, Hudson. Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory Manchester is assisting with the arrangements.
