Michael Charles Foley (Mike)

Sep 29, 2022

Michael Charles Foley (Mike) was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Malden, Massachusetts. He passed away on Jan. 21, 2020, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and soulful 10-month battle with lung cancer in the beautiful state of Maine. Michael served proudly for his country in the U.S. Air Force. It was during his time in the service that he found his calling as an air traffic controller.

Michael Foley is survived by a rowdy pack. First up, we have his most loyal and adoring fan, Susan Schoff Foley. They were married for a roller coaster 52.5 years. They were each other’s best friends and created a wonderful family together. Survivors are daughter Karry Fuller Comfort, her husband, Lance Comfort, their children, Ezra and Jessica Comfort, along with her children, Braelyn and Jonah; son Carl Foley and his wife, Jennifer Foley, along with their sons, Mason and Jack Foley; daughter Erin Foley and her husband, Jonathan Clegg, and their pack of wolves, Sawyer, Tucker and Wyatt Clegg; and his youngest son, Timothy Michael Foley.

Mike also opened his door and his life to all of the crazy friends of his kids; he had many surrogate children in the Brookline, New Hampshire, neighborhood. Over the years, he took many into his strong arms and gentle guidance. He was so proud to be from Malden. He was the youngest of seven. He had wonderful memories growing up on Mont Vernon Street and his playground, the cemetery.

Mike is predeceased by his father, Timothy Foley; mother, (Mama) Catherine; brother, Daniel Foley; sister, Catherine Deeds; sister, Patricia Bailey; sister, Margret Kimball; sister, Mary Beach; and brother, Timothy Foley.

Michael had a wonderful retirement. He was so fortunate to have many years fully enjoying his free time. Most of that included summers spent living at the “Camp.” We will always miss this guy, but we are all so grateful that we have had our time together. Mike Foley was a great husband, father, friend, brother, uncle, Papa, coworker and coach. His smile and humor will be and is severely missed. Thank you for being part of Mike’s beautiful life. He was a special man that made an impact on so many of us and will continue to do so in our memories. So, please take a moment to remember this guy, for his legacy will live on in his family and friends.
