Mark Richard Boyer

Sep 17, 2022

Mark Richard Boyer, age 63, passed away on Sept. 8, 2022, at Exeter Hospital from complications due to interstitial lung disease and COVID-19. He was born on Dec. 17, 1958, in Nashua, New Hampshire, to Raymond Boyer and Jeannine (Champagne) Boyer. He has resided since 2008 in Exeter, New Hampshire, with his loving husband, Stephen L. Pepple, also of Exeter and formerly of North Hampton.

Mark was an astrologer and spiritual counselor, advising many with compassion and care. He also had careers in both retail management and administration, including New Hampshire Senior Services, where he worked supporting housing for lower income seniors, a role for which he was especially proud.

Mark had a kind, open and generous spirit, and has made an impact on countless lives. He is survived by a cast of diverse and far-flung characters so expansive that only a heart as big as his could have possibly contained them all, and who are a community far too numerous to mention individually.

Central to his life are his husband, Steve Pepple; his father, Raymond Boyer (his mother having predeceased him); his parents-in-law, David and Jean Pepple; his twin sister, Michelle Loughlin; his brother, Ken Boyer; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Jimmy Eno; his sister-in-law and dearest friend, Tracy Rose; a large and loving extended family comprised of beloved nieces, grandnieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and all their families; and also his many, many dear friends, colleagues and clients, all of whom he loved and cared for deeply.

Mark was a spiritual person with little interest in material things. He enjoyed the experiences of life, especially those relating to nature. He enjoyed gardening, camping, garlic and outrageously hot peppers. He had few vanities; however, he was proud of his thick mane of hair and his culinary skills. He loved traveling and meeting new people, eating local foods and exploring environments and cultures. He shared many wacky adventures with his husband, Steve. Among his favorites were visits to the Grand Canyon, Vermont, Burbank, Key West, Williamsburg, Nova Scotia, Disney World and Sedona. Even more than traveling, Mark enjoyed a simple life at home with Steve, spending time with his family and friends, and sitting for hours with Sebastian, their beloved orange tabby who also misses him dearly.

In lieu of cards or flowers, please make a donation in Mark’s name to either the American Lung Association or the NHSPCA.A casual celebration of Mark’s life will be held on the evening of Sept. 23. If you would like to attend, please contact any member of the Pepple or Boyer families.
